Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST)

The new Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST), also referred to as Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation, has revolutionized the way Dr. Magi Crofcheck is able to treat patients with receding gums in Houston, TX. PST is an incision-free procedure, so no cutting or suturing is needed to restore gums that have receded from the tooth.

Factors Contributing to Gum Recession

Gum recession can result from several factors, including:

  • Misaligned bite
  • A genetic inclination toward gum recession
  • Clenching or grinding
  • Hormonal fluctuations
  • Improper brushing
  • Inadequate dental care over an extended period of time
  • Periodontal disease
  • Piercings of the lips, tongue, or gums
  • Crooked teeth

How Pinhole Surgical Technique Works

A small pinhole is created in the gum tissue above (or below) the affected tooth. Through this opening, Dr. Crofcheck can access the connective tissue. Once loosened, the tissue is capable of movement, allowing Dr. Crofcheck to gently slide the gum tissue over the tooth structure and into the desired location. A bit of collagen material is then placed to maintain the new position of your gum lines while the connective tissue heals.

The goal of Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation is to return patients dental health to an optimal level as quickly and painlessly as possible. Using this innovative new treatment method, Dr. Crofcheck helps individuals with receding gums in Houston, TX enjoy their smiles once again.
